KNOW THE SIGNS OF CHILD SEX ABUSE

| Jun 26, 2017 | Child Sexual Abuse

As a parent, there is nothing more you want than to protect your child from all of the dangers of the world for as long as possible. We do our best to shield our children from all of the horrors the world has to offer, but it can be nearly impossible to completely keep your child away from any and all of the ugliness the world has to offer. Every parent’s nightmare is for a child to be sexually abused and taken advantage of. If you suspect your child has been sexually abused, you may be feeling depressed, angry, and like there is nothing you can do to help amend the situation. There are certain warning signs to look out for in case you fear this horrific act has truly happened to your child.

The following are signs your child may have experienced sexual abuse:

  • Emotional withdrawal
  • Severe mood swings
  • Sudden weight gain or loss
  • Increased aggressive behavior
  • Attempted physical or sexual aggression towards other children
  • Unusual sadness or depression
  • Distancing from personal relationships
  • Spending an unusual amount of time alone or with adult
  • Sudden drugs or alcohol abuse

Sexual abuse can happen anywhere, anytime–at school, sports, afterschool activities, by friends, family, etc. If your child is exhibiting any of the above signs or if you are sure your child was sexually abused, we want to help. Don’t let the abuser walk free and let us commit ourselves to fighting for the justice your child deserves.
